Officially a Mexicana...jajaja

Acrilicas. Yes, uñas/nails. It seems to me that the majority of the woman here in Cancun have fake nails. Maybe they do back home and I never noticed, but I can sure as heck say none of my friends have them, and nor did I. Until now that is.... EEK!!!

Price list at : Dharma Spa

Truth be told, I have actually had these fake nails of mine for a couple of months now. My cuñada and I go for bi-weekly pedi's and she was getting acryllics put on, and I thought what the heck - let's try them. Actually, I had every intention of having them off by now, but I'm surprisingly really starting to like them. Jajajaja. I used to think they were so impractical, but they are the opposite. I can wash as many dishes as I want, I can swim as long as I want, and they never peel back. Love it. I keep mine VERY natural looking, and short. I still gag when I see some of the ladies in there with their wacko colours, and claw like lengths!!! Too each their own, I guess.

I will say it's kinda a pain in the u-know-what as far as refills go, but it's something my cuñada and I can do together, and it's half the cost it was in Canada. I pay $190 pesos for a refill here. On my last trip to Calgary I paid $57 Cdn!!! Oh well, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!!

Cuñada getting her feet and hands worked on :)

I'll let you all know how long these bad boys stay on for.....

Oh come on no pics of your actuall nails. jajajaja
I thought the jajajaja part was why you were officially Mexicana.
Your so right about the ladies here everyone has them. So far I havent caved but we shall see, the day might come for me yet. I want to see how you got yours done because all the ones I see here are way impractical.

They do look great, but when you take them off your nails are thin. Takes a long time for your natural nail to grow out. I had them for years. Not any more .. good luck!

I love them when they're short, with a subtle french manicure :)

but yes, so many women here have them! My suegra got Mexican flag ones for independence day.

Amanda - Amiga, I really don´t have any good pics of them, and I broke one bowling right after I wrote this....sooo....I don´t think that would look very good! Jajajaja - the jajaja always gets my Canadian friends, hahaha, they think I am just hitting the wrong key! LOL!!!

KfromMich - I know, I am scared what they will look like. I only had them on for my Graduation, and not since! NOt even my wedding!! LOL!! Yes, I need some lucky luck!!

Gringation - Well, you´ve seen them so you know I didn´t go all crazy gal! LOL!! They are short and sweet. Manageable, but the day you see me having multi-coloured french tips... smack a gal over the head, okay??!! Gracias!!! OH and Mexicana flags...Me thinks your suegra can get away with that, but not me! LOL!!! You should post pics if you have any!

Refried - I did bite the bullet, didn´t I!! LOL!! Ohhh just treat yourself to a little indulgence, LOL!! So far so good, lol!

Ashlie - Jajaja, I have ugly hands. No, jk, you´ll see them soon enough chica! LOL!!! Dharma is supposed to be good, but who knows? Hands down the Chinese chicks in Canada did a much better job, and their equipment was FAR more advanced. I guess that´s why I paid triple! Jajaja - my cuñada really does like Dharma though, so I´m assuming it´s pretty good??

A couple of months ago I got a manicure and a pedicure as a reward for sticking to my "eat healthy and exercise" program. It was only the 3rd pedicure of my life and the first manicure (I'm in my 60s). Why did I never get a manicure before this?? I can't believe I have actual fingernails that stick out a little over the ends of my fingers and look normal. I too have opted for the simple, shorter, French manicure and I just love it. I don't ind the maintenance. It's also a great way to practice Spanish with my manicurist, while she practices English with me.
