I am a proud Canadian living south of the border in Cancun, Mexico. I left the snow behind for the sand, and am learning to love my new life!

A great song - Music in Spanish!
One of my favourite things about living in Mexico has got to be the music!!
Not all of the artists I love are Mexican, but they do sing in Spanish... Something I did not get to hear on the radio in Canada. Hubby actually can't believe how much I love the music. I like all of it. I don't get all hissy about the neighbours playing Norteno music all hours of the night. I must say I embrace those experiences.... Weird? Perhaps...
I've decided to try and post a weekly video of a song that I love. I hope you enjoy the posts, and perhaps you'll fall in the love with a song? You never know... I have to thank my good friend who's living in the Dominican for reminding me of this song today. I actually have the CD, but a video is always better ....
Do you enjoy the music when visiting a foreign country? Or can you not wait to hear good old top 4o?
I hope you enjoy :)

House Hunters International!
Sooo, like many of you out there, I am absolutely obsessed with watching the hit show International House Hunters. It makes the unimaginable, well...imaginable!!
Today I was watching and the couple were moving from Wisconsin to a small city in Paraguay. The couple reminded me so much of myself and hubby. They share very similar reasoning as my own with regards to living in a foreign country....
I amharassed often questioned, why?
Why do you live in Mexico?
A. I like it
I'm not going to blog about all the reasons I love Mexico, and all the reasons I love Canada. Been there, done that. I'm sure I'll do it again. Just not today.Instead, I am SERIOUSLY considering getting in touch with International House Hunters and applying to appear on their program!! Why didn't I think of this before? Hubby and I were house hunting last year around this time, and we must have seen a dozen or so places before we made a decision. Surely good enough for a bit of entertainment!!
Okay, so I'm going to do it!! I'll let you all know what I find out, or if I hear anything back from them.
Where was your most memorable location featured on the show?

Lobby pics - Hard Rock Cancun
Okay, so hubby snapped a few shots of the lobby for yours truly today!!!
Let me know what you think.... I'm pretty impressed.
Now hubby and I were just in San Diego, and we paid a visit to the Hard Rock there.... Although nice, it doesn't compare to the one they are completing in Cancun!! WOW. I am so impressed. I will keep posting more as the renos continue....

Hard Rock Cancun
Many of you know that hubby worked for the Palace Group of Resorts here in Cancun. You know, the same group of brothers that also own Chapur... For those of you not familiar, Chapur is Liverpools competition here in Cancun. Both fantastic department stores, but a bit pricey if you ask me.... No great deals like The Bay, or Nordstroms!
Well, sometime last year they announced that the brothers were splitting the business. I am not sure of the details, and to be honest, none of my business. However, hubby was working at the Cancun Palace and it was announced they were changing brands over to the Hard Rock chain....
At first we weren't sure if this was a good, or bad thing. What do we know about hotels anyways? Not sure what people are looking for. I loved the Cancun Palace, but I have to say this new venture seems very exciting. There seems to be a large demand for Hard Rock locations... Who knew?
Here's a little picture of the outside of the hotel taken yesterday, and a photo a few months ago...The transition begins!
Annnd a terrible before pic. Sorry. Just imagine, white and gorgeous clean lines...
Have you ever been to a Hard Rock?

2012 - Update
Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe this is my first blog post for 2012. Where has the time gone?
I did want to provide a bit of an update as I have some big news. I have been travelling back and forth, between Calgary and Cancun for the last 8 months. Has it been a challenge? Yes. Hubby and I have never been apart for such a long period of time...However, it's been so wonderful as we see each other every 3 to 4 weeks, and soak up every second of time we have with one another.
Hubby and I are both in Calgary right now, he's been here for 4 weeks, but goes back to Cancun tomorrow. You know, that thing called work. I am headed there again in July for another visit for 15 days... Then happy to say I will be moving back permanently!! Yup, finally, back with hubby again.
I'm going to be putting my car up for sale here in Calgary asap, buy something cheaper and just leave it at our place here. We are so excited, I can't hardly wait.
Okay, well we are busy watching the Euro Cup right now, but promise I will be posting again. YAY!

Whre the heck is Canadian Chica??
First I want to thank many of you for the most kindest words you have written in the past few months... I can't believe I've been "gone" for so long...
I am still in Calgary, and hubby and I have been traveling back and forth for the past few months. SO much has happened, but where does one start? Hubby is still busy working in Cancun and is LOVING his not-so-new job. I am in Calgary and liking my job. I definitely like making some "real" money!!!
Hubby and I just bought a home here in Calgary. We figure that we should have a place in both countries as you never truly know where a path may take you. The housing market in Canada is VERY expensive. However, we figure it will pay off in the long run.... Will be VERY nice to have a place here and in Cancun. Our place here needs some work - was built in '97, but with the decor of '89. I'll have to post some "before and after" pics!
On another note, hubby arrives tomorrow evening and we are headed to the Rocky Mountains to enjoy some time together. Can not wait!!! We like to get out there as often as possible when in Canada :)
Okay, well I know I haven't updated you all too much, but wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well :))
Hasta pronto amigos :)

We got chicken!!!
A couple of months ago my girlfriend Cele from Argentina came running over asking us if we "lost a chicken". Did I just hear that right?? I mean her accent is a tad different than that of my Mexican friends, but not that different!!
Needless to say Cele was not kidding, and I did hear exactly what I thought I'd heard. Someone lost their chicken, and when she got home from work it was in her house.... It got through her back patio door that she leaves open!!
Hubby to the rescue ran over there and helped them out. The poor thing el pollo was so scared and shaking.... He had a broken wing, and was so skinny. Hubby caught him and put el pollo in our friends laundry room with some grains while we went door to door asking if someone had lost their chicken.....
To this day we have no idea whos chicken it was, and I'm not quite sure what Cele did with el pollo after we left....
Only in Mexico..... :))
