Well, alas it is moving day numero uno!! I can`t believe we are moving again as it was only 11 months ago we moved into this place. Oh well, such is life. We have been super busy packing and trying to get the new place ready for us - new AC units installed, shower heads, counter tops, blinds, etc... At the same time we are trying to get this place ready so we can get our deposit back!
Now that we are moving I don`t mind sharing with you a few details about what we were paying for the place we lived, and what we are getting into. We have been living in a stand alone home, 2600 square feet, 4 bedrooms all with bathrooms and walk-in closets, an office which we turned into another bedroom. , maids room which we turned into an office, AC in every room, ceiling fans, our own pool, nice large yard with patio, upstairs patio, hurricane shutters, alarm system, granite counters, dishwasher (didn`t work!!!), etc.... We were paying $23,000 pesos a month plus all utilities, and they are quite expensive for a house this size. We had a gardener, a pool guy, maid, etc... Our water bills were high as we have to top up the pool at least once a week. Our energy bills are high as it`s hard to keep a place like this cool. Oh I could go on and on. The point is we are moving!
Our new place is quite a bit smaller and we don`t know what to do with all of our things!! We are moving into a 1500 square foot condo. Not small by any means, but small for everything we have. We are paying a LOT less in rent and that is VERY good news for hubby. It already includes the maintenance for the grounds and the shared pool. However, we will now have 24 hours security which is music to my ears! We are literally less than a block away from the house we were renting so the neighbourhood will stay the same, and I can still walk wherever I need to go! Bonus!!!
I`ll have to post some pictures soon of the new place, but that could take some time as Telmex is having system errors and they advised it could take between 1-20 days to get out to us?? Ohhh how we are`nt surprised!!! Hubby and I looked at each other and just laughed. We are expecting 26 days!!! Hahahaa,
Well I am off to Canada next week for a real quick visit - thank you mom!!!!! I have been SO busy with schoolwork that the last thing I have time to do is write a somewhat interesting blog, but I have been feeling guilty about that lately..... So I made time for this quick update!
Hope you all are doing well and can`t wait to hear from ya!!!!
I am a proud Canadian living south of the border in Cancun, Mexico. I left the snow behind for the sand, and am learning to love my new life!

The MOVE
Soooo...this little Cancunchica has been VERY, VERY busy the last few days, but I thought I´d take a break and fill you all in.
This past Thursday we received the keys to our new place!!! Signed, sealed and delivered.
I was dropped off early Thursday morning to begin the madness of cleaning and organizing, and have been going ever since. Well... in-between World Cup matches of course, and NO, I do not only mean Mexico´s match... I mean any match. We like to watch as many games as possible. Yes, we have our priorities straight. LOL.
We are still waiting for the cable to be hooked up. Who knows when that is going to happen? However, hubby was able to find a Telmex dude to hook us up for about 200 pesos (appr. $20usd). Can´t put a price on internet, now can we bloggers?? LOL!!!
Okay, soooo I have a LOT of work to do before the next match...... entonces, that is all for now. However, I´ll be sure to post soon WITH some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

El centro here we come!!
Yes, we are moving, and I couldn't BE more happy... :) Yes, that is my inner Chandler speaking.
Currently, hubby and I have been renting a place in the Zona Hotelera (Hotel Zone), and had nothing but problems. Well, problems for me.... we all know that when wifey isn't happy, neither is hubby!!! Hehehe - yes I can be a bit bitchy sometimes. Sorry hubs!!
We have been really lucky - in the current place we did sign a 1 year lease with our landlords, and out of the kindness of their hearts we are off the hook!! Minus deposit, but that is a-okay for this chicita. Adios to scorpions, TERRIBLE plumbing, salty water, shitty boiler, neighbours annoying chihuahuas, 2 burners, and super high electrical costs!!! Heck, the list could go on and on....
In the new place we will be closer to the entire family, and all of our friends. My pilates centre is less than a 5 minute drive from the new place, Costco is around the corner, and a few of my favourite hang out spots!!!
Ohhhh what does the new place have??? A dishwasher, a freaking dishwasher!! Bestill my heart. I am so not used to seeing them that when we looked at the place I didn't notice, hubby did!! Like he does any dishes?? LOL!!!
We will no longer have one central A/C system - that should cut the electrical costs in half. Not to mention, electricity in el centro is MUCH cheaper than here in the ZH. Ohhh.... we'll also have a gas stove with 6 working burners, and oven. In this house we had 2 burners, and no oven - electrical to boot.
Only problem we are faced with now is that moving day is on the 10th of June. Do you know what that means for us? We have one day to make sure everything gets set up properly. World Cup 2010 kicks off on the 11th. Mexico is playing S.Africa in the opening match!!! Ohhhh please OH please let this work for us!!! We realllly don't want to fight the crowds trying to get a spot somewhere decent!!!
Anyways, I'll have to post some pictures as soon as we move in. Hopefully our furniture will be in those pics. Looks like our container we shipped from Canada 6 months ago may actually be arriving.....I am not holding my breath....
Regardless
Yay for me - scorpion free!!!!!
