I think it's pretty self explanatory, but as you can see the packages range from a vaginal delivery, vaginal delivery in water, and a c-section. You can also see there are different room types you can get, standard to presidential. To my American readers/friends, is this what it's like in the USA? In Canada, you get a room. I think for $35 in Alberta you can request a private room but it's a first come first serve basis. Anyways, all new to this gal...Not used to private insurance at all. LOL.
Well, this is a very brief package review. You can see there are additional costs for birth certificates, circumcision, blood work, incubator, etc.... Just your basic needs are covered here.

private insurance varies greatly in the US. My US employer has great health insurance, so of the $50,000 total in maternity care I paid about $200 for Rx's in addition to the $120 monthly premium. That was it! And I had a high-risk pregnancy with expensive blood-thinning meds. I delivered in a beautiful hospital in my hometown, private room, great facilities and service. And it wouldn't have mattered if I would have had a C-section, vaginal birth, etc. My insurance covers everything after the monthly premium and Rx co-pays (which were like $10/month). Overall, a very, very good experience with private insurance.
Wow! This gives me hope! I soooo want a water birth with me next, but everyone here talks about C sections only. I dont even want to know the csection rate here (in mexico city) .. i think its around 7 out of 10 births are c sections.

The hospital that I go to (in Northern Utah, USA) has only private rooms, and labor and delivery is all in the same room. I don't know what specifically my insurance covers, but I think I'm expected to pay just under $3,000 for everything. I'm still figuring that all out because with my first baby I had Medicaid to cover whatever my insurance wouldn't, so I didn't have to pay for anything. So does a vaginal delivery include an epidural? Or is that extra?
That doesn't look too expensive to me! And it's one of Cancun's more upscale hospitals :)

Leah - Those numbers sound more than reasonable. So I guess the key is have good insurance!! I'm glad you had such a great experience. Your hospital sounds very similar to what you'd get in Cancun with private insurance!! Of course the packages vary.
Mami - In Canada since c-sections are paid with our tax $$'s they are not as common where private insurance exists. I was shocked at the section rate in Mexico!! However, my Obgyn is one of the guys who prefers vaginal. Isn't that funny? I mean, he'll do what you want, but he tries to convince gals for a vaginal birth here!!!
Josie - Hmm...$3000 doesn't sound too bad for all private rooms, everything in!! I know with insurance you really have to read the fine lines. What are the exclusions, perils covered, etc.... In these prices you see, a vaginal delivery does not include the epidural. That you pay a little more for. I'm not sure how much, probably $3000 pesos or so. I'm not to worried as my insurance would cover that part!!
Laura - I agree it's quite a bit cheaper than I thought as well. However, apparently there are many hidden costs in having a baby. That is when the insurance really helps out - with the bloodwork needed, in case baby needs extra attention, etc.... Insurance will help cover/assist with the rest of the medical costs associated.
Hahaha - the circumcision is a lot cheaper than I thought as well!! LOL!!!
So, I'm in the US. I want to have my baby( or babies) there. I don't understand the Spanish terms. I want the c section, circumcision for twin sons, and the suite for 3 nights. I hope to get the meds too lol. How much, in USD will all this run me? Thanks.

I went to Galania Hospital and one of the doctors there told me the amount of 40,000 pesos for a normal delivery. Apart from the hospital fee, do all doctors receive this amount?
