Shakira - Loca (Featuring El Cata) - Video

I know, I know, AGAIN I win the worst blogger of the year award. LOL. I deserve it. I neglect this poor little thing all too often. Funny enough, it's not because I don't have things to write.... I lack the time to put it into words. Well, that and internet connection. Good news? After 1 month of waiting for Cablemas to come and hook up our connection they have. Yes, 1 month. I will never understand why they told us 4 days, but what can one do here? Get over it!

What else can I say? Ohhh.... Remember about 2 months ago I wrote that I've been really working out, and getting back into shape? Well - I am still going strong. I run almost every day, and lift weights. Recently I've began adding in other things : Spinning, Kenpo, Yoga. I love it.

Have I lost weight? No, actually gained two pounds. However, yes, I am aware that muscle weighs more than fat. My clothes are not as tight, and I can see a huge difference. My arms are toned, and my legs are getting tighter....

One of the BEST things is I listen to music to get me through a good sweat session, and one thing we are not short of in Mexico is music, and music channels. Well, I am just in love with this music video of Shakiras. Can you see her abs in this video? For me, it is motivation to keep on running.... Loca? I don't think so.

Hope you enjoy the video :)

Its' a first!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going to La Isla mall with my good friend, and step-mom. The mall was nice and quiet as it's the low season here in Cancun. We were ladies on a bit of a mission so the low occupancy worked in our favour. We were looking for new swimsuits, and not just any kind, but strapless. Do you know how hard it is for me to find a strapless top? Almost impossible. I'd only ever owned one before and it is amazing, Seafolly from Australia. You can't find that brand here in Cancun.

We went to Zingara which is an absolutely fantastic chain here in Mexico for swimwear, and beachwear. Seriously, La Isla alone has 2 locations. I say they are fantastic as they have really pretty suits, and bags, and sandals. OMG I love their sandals. Are they pricey? For the average Mexican, hell yes. For a tourist? I would have said no if I were a tourist. We got lucky and they were having a sale. Or I should say I got lucky - the top I needed/wanted was 50% off!!! This never happens to me, I never get a deal on an item I want. Of course, they didn't have my size, but the clerk called the Plaza Forum location for me and they put it on hold!!!

We ended up having a nice snack and few drinks on the lagoon. I am still fighting a sinus cold, but it was nice to get out. I just love sitting by the water having a nice drink with friends. It's one of the reasons I live here. Right?

Off to Plaza Forum we went where my item was on hold, and guess what?? It fit!!! To be honest I was quite impressed with the service we received. That was almost more of a shocker than finding a strapless top that fit!!!!

This is kinda what my suit looks like.... kinda (google image)

Sooo I'm thinking the sun is shining, and I should give the new top a try!!!

Adios amigos/as!!!

P.S. I needed the strapless for a dress I have to wear in a wedding!! No tan lines in their photos!!!

No queiro fumar!!!

In Mexico I can honestly say that the marjority of my friends are smokers. In Canada, I can honestly say that half of my friends are smokers. I used to smoke, years ago. Smoke a lot... Especially when I was working here in Cancun. As for most smokers when you drink you tend to smoke a bit more.... Well, that was the case for me. I was very fortunate that when I decided to quit, I did. I never looked back.... This was almost 7 years ago now. I have had a smoke here and there, but never more than that, and never bought a pack again. Its' actually been a very long time since even enjoying a drag with a drink.

I am happy to report that Hubby has made the decision he is going to try and quit, again. This time I am trying not to even say anything as I want him to do this himself, for himself. Nada mas. You know? He is now on day 11. He is using the patch, and it's his first time trying with this. I can say he is not as grumpy as alll the other times he's tried ditching the habit. God Bless you patch makers!!! LOL!!

This past Saturday was a test of his will power. As I mentioned in my last post we went out for our friends birthday party, which of course included many drinks, and we were surrounded by a large majority of smokers. I hadn't really noticed the smokers until we got to our friends home. I forgot how bad places wreak when you smoke inside. Laws in Cancun and other parts of Mexico do not allow smoking inside anymore, and it's been this way in Canada for years. So again, I am just not used to it.

When hubby and I got home that night he couldn't believe how bad his shirt stunk, and my hair was disgusting. Normally I wouldnt' shower until the AM, but I couldn't wait. I had to shower that night!! Isn't it funny when I was a smoker I was the exact same way? However, hubby wasn't. This is the first time he's really been able to smell the smoke. You know??

Now, now. I am not bashing anyone who still smokes. Obviously you know it's not good for you, and you don't need me to remind you. As an ex-smoker, I vowed never to ridicule smokers, and I pretty much haven't. To each their own.

Well, day 11 is today, and we'll see what tomorrow brings. For now I love that when he comes to bed I don't smell smoke anymore... It really is a breath of fresh air.

Have you tried quitting? What has worked for you?

Catches up with ya!!

Well, this past week has been full of non-stop action!!! We have been so busy with birthdays', anniversary parties, visiting family, etc... We have had absolutely no time alone!!!!

This past Thursday we had dinner with family, and afterwards we ended up heading down to Playa with some friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary. We went to John Gray's Kitchen which has a fantastic location in Playa, and after a few drinks and tapas we were off to Coco Bongos. Now, I've partied a many nights at the Coco Bongo's location in Cancun, but this was a first for me at this location. All in all it is pretty much the same you get in Cancun, but on a MUCH smaller level. Still a GREAT time, and we were taken care of in rock-star fashion. Well, we ended up getting home at 5:30 in the morning!!! Oh man, remind me not to do that again!! I just can't handle it anymore.

Saturday was even better. It was one of our closest friends birthday parties. We were given a catamaran for the day, and we took full advantage. The sun was shining, the breeze was perfect, and the water even better. We stopped for a late lunch on Isla Mujeres, but other than that we were on the waters the entire day.

We got back to Cancun around 7:00, and decided the party was only just beginning. We ended up going to our friends house for the night, and had even more friends join us. Don't you just love "unplanned"  nights? They always turn out to be so much fun as you had zero expectations. Just love it.

Well, now that the weekend is over I am SICK. I woke up Sunday morning with the WORST sore throat I've had in YEARS. Seriously, I can see white spots on the back of my throat! NASTY! Today it is accompanied with congestion, and a cough. GREAT. My first cold/flu in a year!!! For those of you that don't know - you now need a prescription for ANY antibiotic here in Mexico. So this cold/flu is going to stick around until I see my Doc, but I want to wait one more day to see if I can fight this on my own.

I guess that is what I get for trying to keep up with the young ones. LOL!! I am only making fun of myself as of course I get sick the 2 times I go party. Seriously, what luck is that? My friends who party a few nights a week never seem to get sick. What is their secret???

No exercising for me the next few days. I can already feel the difference, it sucks. I am training for a half marathon by the way. I think I forgot to mention that to you guys??? Oh well, that is for another blog post!!!

Chat sooooon amigos/as!!!! Gonna make me some soup :)
